Apostle Andrew and Saint Stephen and Modestos

This distinctive chapel is located to the east of the free community of Avgorou, built in the same space as the official Monument of the Heroes of EOKA 1955-59. It is a church-symbol that connects religious faith with the historical memory of the homeland. Its dedication is triple: to the Protomartyr Stephen, to the Apostle Andrew, and to Saint Modestos, with the latter being honored specifically in memory of the first fallen of the liberation struggle, Modestos Pantelis from Liopetri.
