Apostle Andrew Monastery

This world-famous monastery rises at the easternmost edge of the Karpasia peninsula and is one of the most sacred and historic pilgrimage sites of the entire Cypriot Hellenism. Its modern, magnificent church was built during the 19th century, resting partly upon older medieval foundations of the 15th century. Below the level of the main church, right next to the waves, gushes to this day the famous miraculous holy spring (agiasma) of the First-Called. Despite the status of the Turkish occupation, the monastery continues to function as a beacon of faith and a symbol of spiritual coexistence, attracting thousands of the enclaved and visitors.
