Apostle Barnabas

This magnificent church is located in the center of the refugee settlement of Agios Ioannis in Kato Polemidia and is an architectural ornament of the area. It is built as a three-aisled cruciform basilica with an imposing central dome, combining the modern anti-seismic skeleton of reinforced concrete with a beautiful exterior facing of traditional Kyvides stone and decorative red bricks. Owing to its large size and its comfortable forecourt, it is the focal point of the religious life of the area's residents.
