Cathedral of Saint George

This majestic church is the cathedral and religious core of the Maronite village of Kormakitis in the Kyrenia district. Its construction began in the late 19th century with the active participation and efforts of the inhabitants themselves, while its official consecration took place in 1933. It stands out for its imposing size, its distinctive exterior decorations and its elaborate bell tower, being an active symbol of faith, tradition and cultural survival for the whole Maronite community of Cyprus.
