Cave of Saint George of Machairomenou

The holy Cave of Saint George the Machairomenos is a distinctive, rock-hewn space of asceticism located in the abandoned settlement of Kataliontas. According to local ecclesiastical tradition, this cave was used as a hesychasterion and is directly connected with the ruins of the ancient Byzantine church that lies in the same area.
