Chapel of Holy Forerunner (St John the Baptist)

This particular chapel is hidden in the Larnaca district, outside the residential zone of Kato Drys, surrounded by fields. Its construction dates back to Byzantine times, specifically to the 12th century. Externally, its masonry is made of local stone, its roof is covered with classical tiles, while its exterior walls are reinforced by buttresses. On the rear side stands out the traditional Byzantine apse of the sanctuary. In the surrounding space the ruins and the bases of an older church that previously existed at the spot can still be discerned.
