Chapel of Saint Mamas

At the northern exit of Kalo Chorio in Larnaca rises the picturesque and austere country chapel of Saint Mamas. The present stone church is a modern edifice of the late 20th century, which nonetheless carries deep history, as it was founded upon the remains of an older, destroyed church of the area. Its plain architecture, harmonised fully with the natural environment of the village, offers a quiet space for prayer and contemplation, while the country chapel comes alive every year on 2 September, the day on which the memory of the Saint is honoured festively.
