Chapel of Saint Mamas

This medieval little church is hidden in the central residential fabric of Pano Lefkara, to the north-west of the church of the Honourable Cross. Architecturally it is a small single-aisled church with a dome, which during the Middle Ages had an exceptionally important role as the cathedral of the local Orthodox Bishopric. Inside it, some old wall paintings can still be seen today, which unfortunately suffered damage from fire in the past. Despite the historical adventures and the later renovations, the structure keeps its contemplative character intact.
