Chapel of Saint Marina Pyrgou

This ancient chapel survives at the seaside location Pyrgos, a few kilometers outside occupied Gialousa of Karpasia. It is a small, vaulted Byzantine structure with limited dimensions, of which a large part of the western wall and the apse has suffered destruction. The church originally bore complete wall-painting decoration in its interior, with the most important surviving section being an old depiction of the scene of the Ascension on the eastern part of the roof.
