Church of Panagia Catholic (Panagia i odigitria)

This very ancient church is located next to the archaeological site of Palaipaphos in Kouklia and is built with materials from the ruins of the ancient sanctuary of Aphrodite. It is an excellent medieval monument of the free cross with a dome, which underwent radical architectural extensions during the 16th century. Until the end of the 19th century it was known as "Panagia Aphroditissa," while today it functions as a protected historic sight and religious chapel that attracts crowds of visitors. The church celebrates its feast festively during the great feasts of the Theotokos, mainly on the fifteenth of August.
