Church of Panagia of Syrkas

The picturesque stone-built chapel of Panagia of Syrka is located between the communities of Silikou and Agios Georgios in the Limassol district, surrounded by centuries-old olive trees. Its name comes from an ancient settlement of the area that according to tradition was an old kingdom. In the interior of the church is kept a distinctive icon of the Mother of God, in which Christ appears to cover the mouth of His Mother, thus depicting a unique religious narrative of the local tradition.
