Church of Saint George Makri

This is a picturesque, stone-built chapel of Larnaca that is positioned upon a low hill with a view of the Salt Lake. The church was originally the church of the medieval settlement of Agrinou, which was completely destroyed by raids during the 15th century. Its name was given in contradistinction to Saint George the Kontos (the Short) owing to its distance from the historic center, while today its surrounding space offers a quiet spiritual refuge.
