Greek Orthodox Church

This historic church of Greek/Cypriot type was built in 1861 within the extremely short period of 65 days, serving the worship needs of the lower parish of the occupied town. Its erection was based almost entirely on the voluntary labor and the collective contribution of the residents of Assia. After the Turkish invasion of 1974, the church was abandoned, desecrated, and is now deprived of the possibility of hosting Orthodox services.
