Holy Chapel of Holy Cross

The historic chapel of the Holy Cross is built upon a prominent hill above the community of Agia Irini Nicosia, offering an excellent view of the valley of Elia. It was erected during the first half of the 17th century and is a single-aisled, wooden-roofed structure of local stone, faithfully following the architectural line of the central church of the village. In its devout interior survive precious samples of wall paintings, while right next to the northern side of the church begins a well-known nature study trail that leads to the historic hideouts of EOKA.
