Holy Chapel of Panagia of Kampou

This isolated chapel is located about one kilometer outside the community of Akapnou, within a large plain. It is a small single-space church with a wooden gabled roof and stone walls that suffered total destruction from a violent fire in 1972. Despite the destruction of its precious wall paintings, the structure was fully restored and is preserved as an important ancient monument. In its exterior space there is a traditional stone fountain, which is directly connected with the well-known miraculous holy earth and the holy spring (agiasma) of the Panagia.
