Holy Church John Chrysostomos

This is the katholikon of the historic Holy Monastery of Saint John Chrysostom, built on the southern slopes of the Pentadaktylos mountain range near the village of Koutsovendis. It was founded in the late 11th century and was one of the most important and oldest monastic centres of the whole Kyrenia district. The church is famed for the traditional water spring it has, which according to local ecclesiastical tradition is connected with healings, while after 1974 the area remains under occupation and inaccessible for the free celebration of sacraments.
