Holy Church of Panagia Eleousas

The church of Panagia Eleousa rises in the centre of Korakou and is the main and largest parish church of the village. It is an impressive architectural work that originally began as a small single-aisled church and was transformed into one of the largest three-aisled timber-roofed churches on the island. It stands out for its interior ceiling of pagdati (lath-and-plaster) that creates the illusion of stone construction, as well as for its elaborate stone bell tower decorated with famous Byzantine motifs.
