Holy Church of Saint Catherine

This historic church is the main parish church of the community of Vyzakia and belongs ecclesiastically to the Holy Metropolis of Morphou. Its erection began at the end of the 19th century with the use of hard white stone from the adjacent river, while its impressive bell tower was added in 1925. In its interior is hosted a unique icon of Saint Catherine, considered miraculous, which was painted in the year of the foundation of the church. Owing to its hospitable character, its historical importance, and its central location in the village, the church is used regularly for the celebration of weddings and baptisms.
