Holy Church of Saint George Ardanon

This historic church is dedicated to Saint George the Trophy-Bearer and is the central religious structure of the purely Greek-Cypriot village of Ardana, which is built at the southern foothills of the Pentadaktylos mountain range. Its erection is estimated toward the end of the 17th century, following the traditional stone-built architecture of the churches of the area. After the events of the Turkish invasion of 1974, the church was abandoned and suffered great damage, but recently it was saved and restored through the programs of the Technical Committee for Cultural Heritage.
