Holy Church of Saint George Kontou

This is one of the most well-known and historic monastic complexes of Larnaca, which is located on the northwestern outskirts of the city. The present church was built from the ground up during the 19th century on the site of an older structure and took its name because it was located closer to the urban center compared to Saint George the Long (Makrys). The space is a timeless spiritual and cultural point of reference for the residents, as it hosts great religious festivals but also crowds of the faithful for the celebration of sacraments.
