Holy Church of Saint Mikallou, Akanthou

This historic seaside country chapel is dedicated to the local Saint Mikallos of Akanthou, one of the 300 Alaman Saints of Cyprus. It is a small, stone-built, vaulted church, which unfortunately bears strong marks of plundering and desecration due to the Turkish occupation. At a very short distance from the structure lies a natural cave, which houses the tomb, the icon and the traditional healing holy spring (agiasma) of the Saint.
