Holy Church of Saint Nicholas

This historic chapel is located in the mountainous community of Gerakies in Marathasa and is under the official protection of the Department of Antiquities of Cyprus. It is a small, stone-built and timber-roofed structure, which in the past formed part of a much larger monastic complex founded by priests of the area. Its interior exudes deep contemplation, preserving the traditional features of the mountainous architecture of Troodos. Owing to its limited space and its great archaeological importance, the church functions mainly as a historic sight and place of pilgrimage rather than for the celebration of social sacraments.
