Holy Church of Saint Paraskevi

This historic parish church is located in occupied Kato Varosi of Famagusta and its original construction dates back to the 16th century. From that original period survives only the semicircular apse of the sanctuary to the east, as the rest of the structure collapsed during the Ottoman rule and was rebuilt in later phases. Because of the Turkish invasion of 1974, the church remained inaccessible for decades and suffered serious damage, but recently it was saved and restored through the programs of the Technical Committee for Cultural Heritage.
