Holy Church of Saint Porfyriou

This brand-new church, dedicated jointly to the Presentation of the Lord (Ypapanti) and Saint Porphyrios the Kavsokalyvitis, is located in the mountainous community of Askas in the Nicosia district. It is a beautiful, stone-built edifice with a traditional red-tiled roof style, recently built with the contribution and donations of devout faithful. Its location offers an excellent panoramic view towards the mountainous landscape of Pitsilia, as it is immediately adjacent to the village's modern viewpoint. Owing to its pilgrimage character and in order to preserve the tranquillity of the area, the church functions mainly for Sunday services and is not available for the celebration of social sacraments.
