Holy Church of Saint Therapontas (Ruins)

This old vaulted church is located to the south of occupied Angastina and is the only remnant of an older medieval settlement. It is dedicated to the local Saint Therapon the Wonderworker, who practiced asceticism in the area. Right below the sanctuary of the church is located a cave of worship, in the interior of which gushes the traditional therapeutic holy spring (agiasma) of the Saint. After the Turkish invasion of 1974, the church was completely abandoned and suffered serious damage and plundering.
