Holy Church of Saints Apostles Peter and Paul

This majestic and imposing church is the central parish church of the free community of Avgorou in the Famagusta district. Its construction began in the late 1940s and was completed in the early 1950s, replacing an older, smaller church that stood on the same spot. The structure follows the type of the three-aisled vaulted basilica with an impressive, tall bell tower and is the religious and spiritual focal point of the whole community, hosting all the great religious feasts and the inhabitants' sacraments.
