Holy Monastery of Holy Cross (Ruins)

A little before the entrance of Anogyra are located the ruined remnants of the medieval monastery of the Holy Cross, which is built upon an ancient early Byzantine settlement. The existing church is preserved in good condition, bearing a tall dome and rare interior wall paintings of the Palaiologan period. Around the structure the ruins of old Christian basilicas but also of later rooms where the monks resided can still be discerned.
