Holy Monastery of Saint George Pitydiotou - Flasou

This historic monastery is built upon a lush hill to the west of the community of Flasou, near the boundaries of the abandoned settlement of Agios Epiphanios Soleas. Its church is a single-aisled wooden-roofed basilica, whose popular name "Pitydiotis" or "Epitidiotis" is directly connected with the "pitythkia," that is, the pine needles of the many pines that surround the area. This monastic hermitage belongs to the Holy Metropolis of Morphou and functions as a space of intense spiritual asceticism and devout vigils.
