Holy Monastery of Saint Herakleidios

This historic women's monastery is built above the tomb of Saint Herakleidios, at the location of Ancient Tamasos. The building complex was destroyed and rebuilt repeatedly over the passage of the centuries, with the present katholikon preserving excellent samples of Byzantine and post-Byzantine architecture. In its interior are kept precious relics of the Saint, rare icons, as well as beautiful mosaic floors of the early Christian period.
