Holy Unmercenaries

This old church is located in a mountainous setting about two kilometers outside the village of Foini and is the only surviving structure of an old monastic complex that was dissolved at the end of the 18th century. Architecturally it follows the traditional type of the wooden-roofed churches of Troodos, having been expanded from single-aisled to double-aisled during the 18th century. Although its historic iconostasis and the old wall paintings were destroyed by a great fire in 1962, the church was immediately restored by the community and continues to operate, gathering crowds of pilgrims.
