Maronitiki Church of Saint Anthony

The historic chapel of Saint Anthony attests to the age-old presence of the Maronite community in Kythrea, which dates back as early as the 13th century. The present structure was erected in the middle of the 20th century to replace an older church of the 17th century that had been completely destroyed by an earthquake. After 1974 the church remained inaccessible, but in 2014 restoration works were completed and since then rare, moving divine liturgies are held for the displaced faithful.
