Metropolitan Church of the Saviour

This is the historic cathedral of the Holy Metropolis of Kition, which is dedicated to the Transfiguration of the Saviour and is located in the urban centre of Larnaca. The church acquired its metropolitan character around the mid-18th century, while the present edifice is the result of a radical renovation that was completed during the 19th century. The church follows the type of the single-space vaulted structure and stands out for its elegant exterior stone-built portico with the traditional arches of Cypriot style.
