Old Church of Panagia Chryseleousas

The old church is one of the most important historic and religious monuments of the occupied community of Katokopia in the Nicosia district. It was dedicated to Panagia Chryseleousa and served for decades the spiritual needs of the inhabitants before the events of 1974. Owing to the Turkish invasion and the ongoing occupation, the church is no longer in a functional state for the Greek-Cypriot community, remaining however a strong symbol of memory and cultural heritage for the displaced inhabitants of the village.
