Panagia Chryseleousa

This very important Byzantine church dominates the central square of Emba and is a unique complex of two structures with three aisles and two domes. The original edifice was erected during the 12th century, probably upon the remains of an early Christian basilica, while in the following century its extension to the west was carried out. Inside the church, rare wall paintings of invaluable historical and religious value are preserved, as well as portable icons that date from the 15th and 16th century.
