Panagia of Evaggelismou

In the interior of the community of Vasa Koilaniou dominates the majestic church of Panagia the Annunciation (Evangelismos), which began to be built in the late 19th century to meet the needs of the growing population. This impressive edifice is made externally of hewn stone and has an imposing dome as well as a tall, elaborate bell tower. Inside it, its unique plaster iconostasis with relief depictions of angels stands out, while the church lies exactly above the location where an ancient underground church previously existed.
