Panagia Theoskepasti

This emblematic church rises upon a natural rock in the heart of the tourist area of Kato Paphos and is dedicated to the Theotokos. The present stone edifice was completed in the early 20th century, replacing an older Byzantine church that was connected with legends of miraculous covering by clouds for protection from raiders. It houses a valuable, ancient icon of the Virgin Mary that is considered a work of the Evangelist Luke, being one of the most important places of pilgrimage of the town.
