Ruins Church of Saint George of Machairomenou of in Katalionta

Near the abandoned settlement of Kataliontas are located the ruins of the ancient church of Saint George the Machairomenos. During the Byzantine period and the years of the Frankish rule, this church was a particularly famous pilgrimage site, closely connected with the numerous miracles of this local Saint. Its precious and historic icon was kept for years in neighboring Analiontas, while today it is protected in the Archbishopric.
