Ruins Monastery of Saint Savvas

This is a historic monument of Paphos, known as the Monastery of Saint Savvas of Karonos, whose remaining ruins are located administratively and geographically in the wider semi-mountainous area of Laona. The monastic complex was originally founded in 1120 AD by Saint John, who also served as its first abbot. Today, the abandoned and half-ruined building structures of the church and the cells testify to the long Byzantine history of the place. Owing to the state of the ruins, the space lacks functional capacity and serves exclusively as an archaeological and historic station for hikers.
