Saint Demetrianos

This is a peculiar little church-monument in Dasaki Achnas, which is designed as a sculpture in the shape of a military tent by the artist Pambos Michli. It is dedicated to Saint Demetrianos, the protector of the refugees, as at this spot thousands of the uprooted took refuge after the Turkish invasion of 1974. In its interior and its surrounding space there are moving statues of refugees, making the church a living space of historical memory and prayer.
