Saint Kournoutas

This small and isolated chapel is located about one and a half kilometers north of the community of Agrokipia, near the area of Mitsero and Achera. It is one of the very few or even the only church in the world that is dedicated to this particular Saint, who arrived in Cyprus in the 7th century. This modern stone-built structure was erected recently right next to the ruins of an older historic church, at the spot where it is believed that the Saint practiced asceticism. Owing to its extremely small size and its location in the countryside, it is not suitable for the celebration of social sacraments, but is a unique destination for serenity and pilgrimage.
