Saint Marina

This small and isolated Byzantine chapel is located in the parish of the Holy Trinity in occupied Rizokarpaso and is a distinctive vaulted monument. Its eastern side, together with the apse, suffered destruction in the past and were rebuilt in a later era, leaving visible the marks of time on its masonry. In its interior survive precious but worn remnants of ancient wall paintings, among which stands out the rare depiction of the enthroned Theotokos holding Christ on her lap. Because of the occupation, the little church remains violently cut off from the majority of the faithful, carrying a heavy historical legacy.
