Saint Ypatios

The church of Saint Hypatios (known locally also as Ai Nypatis) is a historic religious space in the community of Chloraka in the Paphos district. Until recently, at the spot near the old community fountain only ruins survived, which were closely connected with the popular traditions and beliefs of the area's residents. According to custom, mothers took there the infants who were delayed in walking and tied clothes to an adjacent terebinth tree, believing in the miraculous intervention of the Saint for the first steps of their children.
