Small Church of Saint Mavris

This small and plain chapel is located to the southwest of the church of Saint Marina in Aglantzia. It is dedicated to Saints Mavra and Timothy and, according to local tradition, during the period of Ottoman rule the icon of the Saint together with her holy spring (agiasma) was discovered at this spot. The church was erected at the expense of the faithful Hadjikyprianos Dimitris Mitas, was inaugurated in 1979, and was fully renovated in 1996. Owing to its very limited size, it is not suitable for ceremonies, but is a quiet space for pilgrimage and individual prayer.
