SAINT IRENE CHRYSOVALANTOU

This beautiful and picturesque chapel is located approximately one kilometre to the north outside the community of Frenaros, set in a quiet rural area. The present church was built entirely in 2007 at the expense of the church and with contributions of the faithful, taking the place of a much older and decayed little church that did not withstand the passage of time and was demolished. Architecturally it follows the traditional style of the area with careful external stone cladding, having a very beautiful surrounding area of greenery that is known as the garden of the Saint. Every year at the end of July, the Chapel gathers crowds of pilgrims from the entire free Famagusta district, who flock there to honour the memory of the Saint.
