SAINT MAVRI

This very ancient and picturesque chapel is built on the banks of the Kryos Potamos, surrounded by an impressive, protected plane tree hundreds of years old. It is of the Franco-Byzantine church type with a sloping wooden roof and high stone walls that have only narrow openings instead of classic windows. In its interior, which evokes an early Christian catacomb, rare wall paintings of Palaiologan style survive, while at the far end of the church a renowned therapeutic holy water spring flows continuously
