SAINT GEORGE THE TERATSIOTIS

This unique, stone-built Byzantine church belongs to the single-aisled type with an octagonal dome and is surrounded by centuries-old carob trees. In its interior, rare medieval iconography survives, although largely worn, testifying to its artistic past. The name “Teratsiotis” is inextricably connected with local tradition and the carob trees (teratsies) of the area, while the site borders an extensive ancient necropolis.
