SAINT GEORGE

This historic church is built in the centre of the community of Akapnou and belongs to the type of the single-aisled timber-roofed basilica. In its interior precious examples of old painted decoration survive, which however suffered significant alteration and damage during a large fire in the 1970s. The church, which was officially inaugurated in 1922, is one of the most noteworthy ancient ecclesiastical monuments of the area and is served religiously by the community of Parekklisia
