SAINT GEORGE

This very distinctive and small chapel is built at the boundaries of the community, on the road that connects Galata with Kakopetria. It presents a unique peculiarity as it has a north to south orientation, something that is historically attributed to the fact that it was built during the winter. Its masonry combines rough stones with mud in the lower courses and unbaked mudbricks at the higher points, while it is protected by a traditional wooden roof. Owing to its extremely small size, the church functions mainly as a quiet historical monument of the Solea valley and does not lend itself to sacraments
