SAINT GEORGE
This impressive church dominates the centre of the village and was built at the end of the 19th century upon the ruins of an earlier church of 1500. Originally it was dedicated to the Panagia, but it was renamed in honour of Saint George after a miracle that saved the residents from the plague. Architecturally it is a three-aisled basilica with a traditional double wooden roof and grooved tiles, a characteristic feature of the mountainous areas of Troodos. In its interior historic relics are kept and an ornate iconostasis of 1906, being a very beautiful space for the celebration of sacraments
