SAINT GEORGE

The Holy Church of Saint George, known to the older generation also as Saint George the Poor, is built at the eastern entrance of Ypsonas. Its erection began in 1950 upon the ruins of a destroyed small church and was fully completed in 1960 thanks to the financial sacrifices of the residents themselves. It is a single-aisled domed basilica with a pointed arch, which is entirely stone-built and has an elegant two-storey bell tower at its south-eastern corner
